Registering Card Readers in Stripe Dashboard

Registering card readers in the Stripe Dashboard is an essential step in setting up a seamless and secure payment workflow. This guide walks you through the process, ensuring your devices are correctly configured and ready to accept in-person payments.

  1. First, click on Manage Location on the Terminal page.
  2. Then, click on Create Location, enter a name and a valid address. Providing an address ensures that the correct configuration and settings are applied based on the region where the readers are operating. Click the “Done” option.
  3. After that, on the Readers tab on the Terminal page, click Register Reader.
  4. Enter the pairing code on the reader and click Next.
  5. Then, provide a name for the reader and assign it to the location you just created.
  6. Finally, confirm the details and click Register.

Alternatively, you can register readers using their serial number. This method doesn’t require someone to physically have the reader to register it, so you can use it immediately after you unbox it. This method also allows you to re-register the reader without the need to physically have the reader to generate a pairing code. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. On the Terminal Readers page, click Register reader.
  2. Then, enter the serial number and click Next. To register multiple devices at once, you can enter multiple serial numbers, separated by commas.
  3. Next, choose a name for the reader.
  4. Select the reader’s location you just created.
  5. Finally, click Register to finish registering your reader.
