Payment By Register Summary Report

Payment By Register Summary Report

Report Guide for Users

What this report shows, the choices you make when running it, and how to read each section.

What this report is for

The Payment By Register Summary Report gives you a rolled-up view of payments received within a date/time range, broken down by register (or by day) and payment type — cash, credit, gift card, stored value, and other tender. It's a higher-level companion to the Payment By Register Detail Report, useful when you want totals without wading through every individual transaction.

This report includes payments from transactions that are Complete or still Pending. The Register Management report is based on transaction dates rather than payment dates, so totals between the two can differ if a transaction and its payment happened on different days.

How the report works

The report totals payments received during the date and time range you set, at the location(s) and register(s) you select. You choose whether the totals are organized by register or by payment date, and which payment types to include.

The choices you make when running it

These are the settings available. Everything else is calculated automatically.

1. The time period

SettingWhat it does
Start DateThe beginning of the date range you want to report on.
End DateThe end of the date range you want to report on.
Start Hour / Minute / SecondThe exact time of day the range should start on your Start Date. Defaults to the very start of the day (00:00:00).
End Hour / Minute / SecondThe exact time of day the range should end on your End Date. Defaults to the very end of the day (23:59:59).

2. What to include and how to organize it

How to read the layout

Rows are grouped by whichever option you chose in Group By, with Sub Total and Total rows summarizing the figures for each group. Only the payment type columns you selected in Payment Type will appear — if you deselect a payment type, its column (and return column) is left out entirely.

When grouped by Register, you can click a register name to drill through to the Payment Details report, pre-filtered to that specific register and date range, if you need to see the individual transactions behind the totals.
